u Nature and Extent of involvement of faculty and students in academic affairs/improvements
All the faculty members including Director of the Institute are effectively involved in classroom teaching and guiding students for their research projects. There is always emphasis on innovative teaching techniques and involving students in classroom, discussion through assignment, presentation and case study. For proper grooming of the software professionals, there is provision of industrial visits and educational trips by the students. Students play effective role in arranging all these activities. They are included in various committees such as training and placement, industrial visits, educational trips, seminars; cultural committee’s etc. Students are also involved in teacher’s performance appraisal. This is how the students are groomed and academic standards are improved.
u Mechanism/Norms & Procedure for democratic/good Governance
To promote democratic and good governance various committees such as Admission Committee, Training and Placement Career Development Cell, Academic Industrial Interface and Industrial Visit Committee, Seminars/Conference/ Symposium Committee, Time Table Committee, Library Committee, Infrastructure and Maintenance Committee, Internal Examination and Assessment Committee, Sports and Cultural Committee and Grievance handling committee have been constituted. Students are also included in these committees where need arises. First the matter is discussed in the concerned committees and then the final decision is taken in the meeting of Staff Council.
u Student Feedback on Institutional Governance/faculty performance
There is a unique concept of feedback about faculty by the students. This is done through specially tailored questionnaires. The faculty is individually counseled on their academic performance as perceived by the students.
The faculty seminar is held regularly in which each member of the faculty speaks on a topic, which is current and relevant in his / her teaching area. These seminars are invariably followed by lengthy question/answer session. The faculty is encouraged by the Director to turn their seminar in to research article.
Every month the director has an open house with the students where students can offer suggestions, shortcomings and voice their opinions about the area in which improvement is desirable. There are number of boxes specially put up at different places in the Institute, which the students can use to give their grievances /suggestions. Needless to say that they are attended by the Director himself and a feedback is given to the students in the next open house meeting. Students are also encouraged to communicate with the Director directly whenever there is need for doing so.
u Grievance redressal mechanism for faculty, staff and students
The students / staff members are always welcomed to put in their grievances in front of the Director. The students either can put in their grievances in the form of letters or can directly talk to the Director / Faculty members for the same. The problems are always carefully sorted out keeping in view the interest of the students as well as the Institute. The grievances of faculty and staff members are sorted out through periodical meetings.
